What is microfiber?
Microfiber is a thread made up of wedge-shaped polyester filaments and a nylon core. The fibers, oil and water-attracting polymers are woven into masses of tiny hooks and loops. These hooks and loops actually cut through dried-on stains, attracting and absorbing dirt and micro particles.
Instead of leaving dirt on the floor like ordinary cotton mops, the electrostatic action of Bona’s MicroPlus Floor Mop with microfiber attracts dust and common household allergens when used dry. When used with our Bona floor cleaners, it actually absorbs dust and dirt, wicking it away from your beautiful floors.
I am looking for a hardwood floor, where do I begin?
A: Welcome to the world of hardwood flooring!
This is an important decision and one that you may enjoy the benefits of for years to come. When choosing a hardwood floor there are many considerations:
Firstly which species? We have included a species list which gives you an introduction to some of the varieties available.
We also have a wood floor showroom in Nashotah where we have samples of many types of wood. Please feel free to visit us, feel the grain and ask questions. Sometimes your ideal choice will jump out at you!
Things to consider are color, durability, grade and width. If you are looking for reclaimed wood, you may also need to consider the availability of the wood you want.
Another decision to consider is the type of finish you would like on your floor, for example, semigloss, matte or water-based. And if you want any custom borders or inlays, to give you a truly unique wood floor.
And lastly! You may wish to pick a stain to highlight your floor – or decide to maintain the natural floor colour without stain.
Please peruse our online resources, visit our showroom or give us a call, we look forward to assisting you in your decision-making process.
Is the sanding process dusty?
A: We use genuine Atomic Dust Containment System. This truck-mounted vacuum system is connected to all of our sanding equipment, evacuating the dust as it is created. It is big, loud and extremely effective. Our customers are over the moon to see how clean their house is after sanding, especially if they have not been offered this service before.
Atomic Dust Containment is a far superior to any other wood floor vacuum system, it makes all the difference and offers a much healthier and pleasant environment for our customers and our team.
How long will my wood floor last?
A: Properly fitted and cared for, your new wood flooring will last the lifetime of your house. It can be sanded and refinished multiple times making it a versatile and long-lasting addition to your home.
We enjoy long and happy relationships with our customers and have serviced some floors through multiple generations.
How much noise will there be?
A: We do make a lot of noise during the sanding process. We suggest leaving the house or finding a room that is far from our work at this time. The sanding process on a typical home lasts two days.
Will there be any bad odors or fumes?
A: Our finishes are environmentally friendly and non-toxic. We deliberately use water-based finishes with no harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s).
These finishes do not have strong odors and you can safely move back onto your floor after 12-24 hours.
If we are sanding your existing floor, to remove an old finish there may be some odor, however, our Atomic Dust Containment system will remove any harmful material from your house.
When can I move back in?
A: You can usually move back onto your new floor within 12-24 hours of completion. But please be careful when replacing furniture initially and keep all rugs and mats away from the floor for seven days.
